It seemed especially fitting that I share this little family tradition today as it's my sister, Anne's, birthday! We are 20 months apart in age though have always been asked if we're twins, which we kind of love.
Anne is a true gem of a human being and I'm incredibly grateful for her. She is humble, caring, compassionate, and wise. She is greatly loved (please see picture below and the 14 bridesmaids), and she's one of the most beautiful gifts in my life.
Kristian and I picked up this tradition about five years ago from a friend when we lived in NYC. It stuck and now we make sure to throw it in to the birthday gatherings for our family and friends. (Whether they like it or not.)
These questions aren't necessarily ones to be asked at a large birthday party, but rather a smaller group of friends or family.
As you'll see, the first two are for the birthday girl or guy to answer, and the last one is for everyone else.
Isn't it amazing how words of encouragement and affirmation stick with us? Our responses to that last question have the potential to be some of the best gifts we ever give.
